Kicking about outdoors in January

This past month - if you have kids - has probably been all about toys, both indoor and outdoor. Christmas has been and gone and the kids are probably settling back into the routine of school and homework with a stubborn and defiant kick. Having to go back to school is probably one of the toughest parts of being a kid; you lose the freedom of having weeks off and end up spending the majority of your week indoors during winter without seeing much daylight. In these months, it’s important for children to play outdoors and exercise as much as possible. Not only does this help to keep children active, it also helps to engage their minds at the same time. This is especially true with sports that require concentration, coordination, skill and planning.

Kids need to be able to kick about in the outdoors to keep their minds and their pulses racing with possibility. We’ve got some great suggestions, here at Wicken Toys, of sports-related outdoor toys for the kids that are crying out for more exercise and activity in the dark of the winter months.

TP Goal

Kicking a ball around in the big outdoors is nothing short of invigorating when you’re a child. Whether you’re a boy or a girl, you grab the ball and go kicking around in the garden trying to score sensational goals to make the crowds go wild. Granted, the crowds are fictional and there’s often no real goalkeeper there to stop them from going in, but that’s not the point. Toys and your imagination can create miracles when you’re a kid.

The TP Goal is best suited to younger children and is easy to assemble. The posts and the net are both protected from rust and rot respectively, so you don’t have to panic that the goal will have a short shelf-life if left in the garden.

Set it up and let the kids start practising their Hand of God or Rooney-esque shots to the back of the net.

TP Super Goal with Trainer

The key to being good at any sport is regular practice. It helps you to improve your skills over time and your playing style. Focusing on things like coordination and control in the comfort and safety of their own back garden can make the difference in vastly strengthening your child’s skills on the playing field as they get older.

This TP Super Goal with Trainer is hugely popular at Wicken Toys because it’s easy to assemble and gets children to focus on specifics, rather than just firing the ball into a wide-open net. It’s great for teaching accuracy and control with a covering over the net and several holes for the ball to be aimed at.

Wicken Toys wishes you all a Happy New Year. Thank you to everyone that shopped with us in 2011; here's to a busy 2012 with even more exciting offers on outdoor toys for the children.
