Why Oval?

An oval trampoline will typical fit into a garden better than a round trampoline will so you will normally get a larger bouncing space than on a round trampoline without taking up as much space visually.

All trampolines are sold for one at a time, if you have more than one user on a round trampoline than they will both get pulled towards the centre and a heavier user will really affect the bounce of a lighter user. Oval trampolines have two sweet spots for bouncing on, one at either end, this means that the trampoline will not pull the users towards each and they will not affect each other's bounce anything like they would on a round trampoline.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the biggest difference between the Elite and the Champion?

The pads. Elite pads are thicker, wider, heavier and more UV-resistant, giving better protection and a longer lifespan than Champion pads.

Is the bounce on a Springfree trampoline as good as a quality sprung model?

Springfree trampolines offer a very good bounce, but they do not bounce as high or as powerfully as a BERG Champion or Elite trampolines.

Springfree = safety first.

BERG Champion or Elite = performance bounce and safety combined.

Should I choose a Springfree oval or a sprung oval trampoline?

Both are excellent but for different reasons:

  • Springfree Oval – safest design, no hard edges, extremely low maintenance
  • BERG Oval (sprung)significantly better bounce, higher performance, better for older children and teens

Many families choose Springfree for younger children, and BERG for households prioritising bounce and long-term performance.

Are oval trampolines better for gymnastics?

Yes. The longer shape makes them excellent for tumbles, routines, and directional jumping, which round trampolines can’t offer.

Should I choose the version with or without a safety net?

If jumpers are under 14, it is recommend to have a safety net.

If the trampoline is sunken fully to ground level and used mainly by older teens or adults, some families choose the Sports (no net) version for a cleaner look.

Are oval trampolines better than round ones?

Oval frames give you more usable jumping space and a longer central jump line, which feels more natural for practising movements or for multiple children taking turns.

What is the difference between Grand Champion and Grand Favorit?

The Champion is the higher-spec model and offers:

  • TwinSpring Gold springs (Favorit uses SoloSprings)
  • AirFlow Pro mat with up to 150% more airflow
  • Wider, stronger pads
  • A heavier, more stable frame

The result is higher, smoother jumps, longer lifespan, and better performance for regular or older jumpers.

Why Choose an Oval Trampoline?

Oval trampolines are becoming one of the most popular choices for families, and for good reason. They blend the best features of round and rectangular trampolines, giving you a safer, more controlled bounce with better use of garden space.

1. A longer jumping area for games and multiple users

Oval trampolines have an extended jumping surface, which means children can:

  • run, cartwheel, and tumble along the length
  • play games without crowding into the centre
  • jump “in a line” rather than competing for one central spot

This makes them brilliant for siblings, friends, and gymnast-style play.

2. Safer, more controlled bounce pattern than a round trampoline

Round trampolines naturally pull jumpers into the middle, which can cause collisions.

Ovals distribute the bounce in two controlled zones along the length of the trampoline reducing the “centre pull” effect and helping keep users slightly more spaced apart.

This makes an oval trampoline a great compromise between being fun, energetic, and family-safe.

3. Easier to position in most UK gardens

Many gardens aren’t perfect squares. Oval trampolines fit long, narrow, or awkward gardens far better than a big round trampoline.

They:

  • sit neatly along a fence line
  • make better use of available width
  • leave more useful space around the garden

If a round trampoline feels too “wide”, an oval is often the perfect solution.

4. A great balance of bounce performance and stability

Oval trampolines offer a bounce feel that sits between:

  • round (stable, controlled bounce)
  • rectangular (powerful, performance bounce)

You get a longer, smoother bounce without it being too strong for younger children. Perfect for families with a mix of ages.

5. Why choose an oval Springfree?

Springfree also offer oval models, and these have unique benefits:

  • No springs, no hard edges, no pinch points
  • Excellent sideways space for running and tumbling
  • Very low-maintenance (no pads, no spring rust)

However, it’s important to note:

While Springfree gives a good, comfortable bounce, a high-quality sprung oval trampoline (like BERG Champion or Elite) will give a more powerful, “airier” bounce.

Summary — Why buy an oval trampoline?

Choose an oval trampoline if you want:

  • More usable jumping area
  • Better spacing for two children
  • A shape that fits real gardens
  • Smoother, more controlled bounce zones
  • A balance between fun and performance

It’s the ideal “best of both worlds” shape for most family gardens.
