Frequently Asked Questions
What age are BERG balance bikes suitable for?
BERG Biky balance bikes are generally suitable for children aged 2 to 5 years, or 85–110cm in height. The seat adjusts easily so the bike grows with your child.
What’s the difference between the Biky Cross and Biky Retro?
Biky Cross has chunkier tyres for grip on grass, gravel, and rougher ground
Biky Retro has a classic curved frame and slimmer tyres for a smooth, stylish ride on paths and playgrounds.
The riding experience is the same — just choose the style you prefer.
Do BERG balance bikes have brakes?
Some models do include a handbrake and others don’t. If a bike has a brake, it will say “with Handbrake” in the product title.
Models without a brake are designed to help children learn to control speed using their feet — this builds balance and stopping confidence naturally.
Models with a handbrake are ideal for children who are already more confident, or who will soon move up to a pedal bike.
Are the tyres inflatable?
Yes. All BERG balance bikes use pneumatic (air-filled) tyres for better cushioning, grip, and comfort on different surfaces.
How do I adjust the seat height?
Seat height adjusts using a quick-release clamp — no tools needed. Loosen, slide to the right height, tighten. Done.
How do I know if it’s the right size?
Your child should be able to sit on the saddle with both feet flat on the floor, knees slightly bent. If they can’t reach, lower the seat. If they are very bent at the knee, raise it.
Can my child steer safely?
Yes. BERG balance bikes include a steering limiter to prevent the handlebars from over-rotating. This gives children more control and prevents sudden wobbles.
Does it arrive assembled?
It arrives mostly assembled. Final setup is simple and usually takes 10–15 minutes with clear instructions.
